Notable quote from BECAUSE YOU LEFT.

I was re-watching the entire season five before the finale, and as I remember, the writers throw in little clues and jokes hidden in music or television before something happens - usually at the end of the season. Well, I just saw this.

AARON: Choo choo! Tunnel!

KATE: Oh, I think Choo Choo knows better than that. He goes into that tunnel, he's never coming back out.

Tunnel? Never coming back out. I'm hoping against hope that this is a clue towards the finale, and it's about Jack. Once he does into that tunnel (The Tunnels) he's never coming back out. However this poses two problems. One, hell no, Richard, Eloise and Sayid are down there and they matter to me greatly, so if Jack does something stupid down there, then the three of them better survive. I know that there is major blood being spilled this finale, but God help Darlton if that blood is Eloise and Richard's. I can accept Sayid, because Richard HAS said in the last episode that he watched all their people die. I can accept him being right if it means time is not altered, Jack does not detonate the core of the bomb, and Richard lives another day. Besides, if they kill Richard off, it's going to be such a waste of build up because then we will never know his story.

Hold on now, I am still alive! I've just been watching Lost episodes the following morning after they air because I have been at night classes! Worst time to have a night class, right?

However, this season has been short and insane! Let's recount some interesting points.

  • In the 70's, there's all this talk about changing the future. My main concern is...why would they want to do that? Why would Jack want to go back and land his plane in LA? Does he not realize that everything that has happened to him on the island has been special? I don't know, but I would never undo it, no matter how much "misery" it caused him. Besides, I think all that misery came from his own guilt.
  • The island chooses who to heal! When the plane crashed on the island, certain castaways were completely healed, mentally and physically. Rose and Locke had medical miracles, Sawyer grew up, Daniel's mind healed, and even Charlie gave up his junk. However, some people only got worse. I theorize that the people the island heals are people who have faith in it. Those who condemn the island and don't care for it's welfare get the short straw. Kate and Jack? They're worse off than when they started. Roger Linus? Worse as well.
  • Faith vs. Science - I just wanted to briefly remark how the people of faith on the island end up being "correct" and more powerful than those who believe in science wholeheartedly. On the island, science just doesn't apply.
  • A Richard-centric episode!!!!! Let me die happily. I've been waiting to see more of him since he popped out of the jungle looking like a dirty pirate to young Ben. I originally thought he was a pirate who sailed on the Black Rock (or commandeered it which caused it to crash), but after we got to see the statue again, I am not so sure. Perhaps the original natives to the island were something special. Maybe they didn't age. Or even, maybe he could be some sort of deity from all that time ago. Either way, I associate him with the Egyptian statue holding the ankhs and I want to know his life story. It's strange to know he isn't the entire man behind the curtain pulling the strings. He doesn't know EVERYTHING contrary to what I previously thought. In fact, most characters that I thought were omnipotent probably only know what they know because of the time travelers in the 1970's.
  • Locke wants to kill Jacob -- why!? Jacob clearly healed him, why would he be so ungrateful, right?
  • So we know that one function of the smoke monster is to scan people and use their memories against them to judge them. What else can it do?
  • Ellie and Alpert only know what they know because of the castaways in the past because Ellie in the present said it herself - she has no idea what is going to happen after she sends them back into the 1970's.
  • Is Ellie Penny's mother as well?
  • I don't believe that they can change the future (and I don't want them to). If they had the power to change things, would anything have ever been changed? Would Ellie have sent Daniel back? Everything has a purpose. Even taking Ben to Alper didn't change anything - it happened already. Everything happened already. I am sure Ben returns to Dharma as an insider. After this H bomb scare, I'm sure that the castaways in the 70's are going to die. They're probably the catalyst that causes the purge later too.
  • Things that the writers have admitted to - Libby will probably not be revisted. There is more than one function for the smoke monster. They have not given us all the information needed to make educated guesses at important things like the final episode events or the smoke monster's true purpose. The Dharma ARG was scrapped because of a lack of funding, but the original purpose and end result was meant to be that it would hint at the castaways being in the 1970's.
  • Also - CLAIRE. She must be dead! I just realized that, If she's showing up off island and hanging out with Christian, she has to be dead. Maybe Richard too, you never know.

This year's finale code phrase is "The Fork In The Outlet".

OCTAGON GLOBAL RECRUITING UPDATE

Seeing as this is the new ARG of this hiatus, I'll bring you updates as I catch up with them. Some new things have happened since my last update, kicking off the start of the ARG, officially! Comicon's Lost panel was especially interesting this year, because they announced a few things, first off.

According to the Q & A session with Damon and Carlton, there are a few things completely confirmed, a very small list. As I recall right now, they promised seventeen uninterrupted episodes should the strike never happen, the way Lost should be. They also insisted that Sawyer will see Kate again, but we don't know if that was completely trustworthy for an answer. They won't say how many toes Richard Alpert has, but they promised a barefoot Alpert scene. Jin will be seen, despite what happened to him, he still has some involvement (the questioner here was awarded with a panda stuffed animal - jealous!). Jeremy Bentham was definitely considered for Locke's pseudonym because of the real Bentham's involvement with the Panopticon (basically the leader watching over all of his prisoners). For every single answer and sidestep that they gave, you can watch the entire panel here. I highly recommend you watch them, there is a lot of important information to be seen. In fact someone came to the microphone dressed to be Hurley's doppleganger, and they awarded his question with a genuine jug of Dharma ranch dressing!

Most importantly, they introduced the new ARG. Insisting that they finally got the commercial sponsorship that they always wanted, they sat at the panel with two Dharma brand cups, and a man named Hans Van Eghen (remember the emails?) introduced himself as the new head of the Dharma Initiative. He took a select few of the Dharma applicants to a secluded booth in the back of the convention, including RuckusGuy (emails again!). Quite some time later, RuckusGuy returned, running onstage with a tape of the secret Dharma video they had been shown bootlegged on his camcorder.

This is what he saw.

This brings so much to mind. Firstly, we finally know Wickmund's real name. Secondly he knows the future! He even sadly looked down at his arm when he spoke about it. He knew about the purge, but the interesting thing about Lost time travel is that the future could never be changed. He knows this, and he lets it happen, video taping his last words, and saying that the Initiative MUST be reinstated. And who's video taping? Doesn't that voice sound surprisingly familiar? Could it be Daniel Faraday?

And finally, less than a few hours ago, the Dharma website has finally been started. At this time, you can register with a brand new account, but before you're allowed to register, you must take the qualifying exam. While only a few minutes long, the test is very strange. It asks you multiple choice questions to go along with images first, and then multiple choice questions in real-life hypothetical situations. I myself think that these questions contribute heavily towards which position you get in this ARG, working as a member of the Initiative. I am led to believe we are assigned jobs because they are recruiting, and when you do make it to registration after the exam, you have an assigned "card number". For now, the missions and objectives after registering are not up, so I will bring you more when I get more!

OCTAGON GLOBAL RECRUITING UPDATE

There has been another mailing, which reads:

"ATTENTION ALL RECRUITS

The Dharma Initiative will be conducting eligibility assessments at Booth 3529 at Comic-Con, San Diego between July 24th - 27th.

If you are attending Comic-Con and would like to submit your name for a randomly selected drawing to secure one of ten (10) pre-release appointments with one of our recruiting officers, please click here.

The volunteer eligibility assessment will be available online from July 28th for a limited time at www.dharmawantsyou.com

The Dharma Initiative hopes you will spread the word. Invite your friends to join the team at www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com"

Once replied to, you get:

"…If you’re reading this, wanna hear something cool?
I’ve got intel about his little “recruitment drive.”
They’re doing some kind’ve personality/IQ testing or something down in SD for ComicCon.
Buddy of mine works down there and has the approvals for their “booth,” he says once you go in no one knows what happens inside and you need an appointment to get in. He also said to make sure you’ve got your Bluetooth on and visible – he’s rigged up a little something.

The whole thing sounds like elitist B.S., doesn’t it?
Well, I’m getting in that booth and taking the test.
As many times as I have to before I “pass” (whatever that means?)
And then…
If I can?
I’m gonna tape it so EVERYONE can see what these idiots are up to.
Should be fun, right?
See ya in SD. RuckusGuy OUT."

Bits are starting to trickle in about what is going on with Octagon Global Recruiting's first endeavor at Comicon in San Diego from the 24th-27th. They have been reported to have a booth set up, and a certain project underway that us folks at home cannot fully experience. Excerpt as follows:

"At the Octagon Global Recruiting booth, fans are given a waiver form and an appointment time by DHARMA staff (all with Australian accents). At their appropriate time, they can enter the booth, which has cameras on the ceiling (these appear to feed outside the booth so observers can see what is going on). With a set of headphones and television equipment, participants are shown images or given a series of questions, and have to say what first pops into their heads. Some of the images in particular are reportedly very bizarre. Questions are then asked such as "You just took away a child's favorite toy. Why?" Reportedly, fans have an option of what type of test they can take by choosing a different name. There were eight options, all names of Jupiter moons. In one hidden cam video, a participant of the test is asked the question, "Who is your constant?" which is an allusion to the episode The Constant.

The test apparently lasts about five minutes, and upon completion you are told whether you passed or not (it's likely everyone will "pass" as part of the ARG). Participants are then told to make sure they see the Lost panel on Saturday, and have their test sheet with them (they apparently make a point of having your own sheet with you). They are also given an ID card, which includes special details which can, from July 28th, be entered on Dharmawantsyou.com to allow those who took the test to register for "phase 2" of the application process.

The legal declaration form participants must sign finally revealed the name of the ARG project, Dharma Initiative Recruiting Project or simply known as "The Project"."

This is really unfortunate. I had about ten of these made, and for some reason, the entire folder disappeared off of my external drive! I've never had this happen before, so the only two I saved somewhere different were the following. Enjoy these (and my previous post of these things) while I mourn the loss of my hard work.

If anyone knows what happened to my hard drive and files, please let me know ASAP.

Things pondered at 4am

Perhaps the island is moved to a different part of the world with a different climate. That could account for some terrible things happening on the island.

Did the Zodiac and Daniel Faraday make it with the Island? Or are they stranded at the ocean? I'm inclined to believe that they poofed with the island, because when the helicopter crashed and they life raft was out there, they weren't even shown in the ocean. However, if the Zodiac IS in the ocean where it had been previously, there is a very, very slim chance that Jin has survived. This is assuming that Jin wasn't killed in the blast, and that the Zodiac would rescue him OR a coast guard could have picked up the large explosion and sent a team out for survivors. This is theoretical and highly improbable.

The reason Charlotte dug up that animal fossil with the DHARMA collar is still unknown. How could it be fossilized? Probably a really bad experiment going wrong in the Orchid, and I'm sure that they must have sent it out to thousands of years ago, by accident, into the desert. OR even stranger, they could have even used it as an animal experiment to moving the island. Which makes less sense.

For some reason, I think Charles Widmore somehow knows something about the future, and that he purposely pushed Desmond to finding the island one way or another. I think he knew that Desmond would play a key role in his search for the island.

What the heck started the rivalry with Widmore and Ben, anyways? A girl? Ben's childhood flame? Did they know each other growing up? Has Widmore been to the island?? Could he have grown up there as Ben's classmate and left before the Purge?

What happened to Rousseau's team?

THEY BECAME UNSTUCK IN TIME! It all makes sense now. First, if they were infected, why wasn't Danielle? And why haven't any other people become infected either? They were a team of scientists, it's reasonable to think that they have been exposed to some form of radiation at some point in their careers. And what happened when you mix radiation and coming to the island on the wrong bearing? You become unstuck! She had thought a virus infected them and drove them mad. It only makes perfect sense! Anyhow that's one thing that I realized.

Ben knows what's up with this season's alternate endings. It was a good idea to shoot three different endings so that no one would know which was the real one until later on, but damn, they didn't have to scare me so much! All three deaths are NOT COOL. Both the real and fake endings but ESPECIALLY ONE FAKE ENDING. I was afraid it would happen like that and I'm glad it didn't. It was terrible to see though, it felt kind of realistic.

The Shape of Things To Come: Initial Reactions

SHIT! Oh my GOD! I think that episode got the biggest rises out of me, ever. Even more than The Constant. Okay. I was freaking out over everything. First of all, and most pressing, I was SO AFRAID THAT DESMOND WAS GOING TO GET THE AXE. First there was the whole goddamn boat with the C4 and they could not have made me any more nervous with that, and the whole fact that IT WAS DEFINITELY GOING TO EXPLODE. I take this way too seriously, in hindsight. The past two weeks I've had this tunnel vision that reminded me of when Boone was sure to die. It was NOT a good feeling. But you know what DID make me cry? The second I spotted Penny popping up, and Desmond yelling PENNY! PENNY! That felt like one of those old movies where the happy ending actually happens and I totally cried over that one. He was so happy! And Alive! Capital a. The really terrible thing, though, is the fact that now that he has a happy ending, he is barely a part of the main story, and for the first time in a really long time, he won't be on every week to look forwards to! Shit. Who will I watch now?? And at the end, seeing him without his little blue shirt and all the missing buttons felt like rape. RIP blue shirt.

ON ANOTHER NOTE HOW COULD THEY KILL JIN!?! Holy shit I was screaming like Sun when I saw that! I like Jin like a million times more than Sun, damn it! And you know what was really messed up? The helicopter crashed and Aaron was like, just fine. No scratches but DESMOND who is probably the toughest next to Sayid is like, unconscious. Oh my god. At least I trusted Jack's resuscitation skills after he brought Charlie back a long time ago. BY THE WAY hell yes at the island moving! I was really excited by the whole thing but really sad that Ben could never return to the island ever again because he moved it. Really excited to see Keamy die. FUCKING UPSET THAT LOCKE IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO DIE. I don't like that. Who will be Richard's leader-buddy without Ben or John?!! I love that it's all Jack's fault that he died by the way. Jack is the biggest anti-hero since Harry Potter. Selfish, but trying to be self-less at the same time is just really impossible. I am really sick of his whole "has to cry once an episode" thing.

Lots of things make sense now!

For once, Ben Linus popped up in the desert in Iraq AFTER MOVING THE ISLAND! I don't know, I always get excited when things come together linearly. The whole Oceanic Six thing makes sense now too. I don't worry too much about them, is that bad? I only pay attention to Ben and Hurley. I also understand now that Sawyer earned back his colors, and he is now an awesome character again! Clearly Sun wants to backstab Ben, because she knows now that Ben's the reason the Kahana blew Jin to hell and back.

This week left so many questions though, until next season.

What was the promise that Kate made to do for Sawyer? What happened to the Zodiac and those on it? Does Charles Widmore know about Desmond? Is Claire alive in the flash forwards, or dead? Did John Locke actually kill himself or was he killed? Will they go back? Will Ben be able to return? Where did the Island go?! What happened to everyone on it? What affiliation did Charlotte have with the Island previous to arriving there in the parachute? Where is Vincent the dog? And most importantly, where is Desmond's blue shirt and when will he come back.

Lost in a few short hours. Meanwhile....

I think I've narrowed down something. Richard Alpert probably does age. I think he just moves around in time so much, though, that he seems ageless. I don't know what the whole Orchid Station does, but it definitely bends space and time. I think I kind of realized he's not ageless because considering that he was already part of the OTHERS when John Locke was born is impossible - Ben is still younger than Locke, and Ben was a young boy when Richard and Ben met and formed the OTHERS. Richard was clearly recruiting to the OTHERS, so Richard time travels.

Tweak says, "all hail abbadon" I didn't like reading that. No. Creepy. [18 May 2008|01:08am]
Here is the first post of LOLOSTS in this journal thus far! Celebrate! There are many more to come. These started out as being inspired by this week's episode's lolworthy moments, and then it went into the obscure because as I was working off of screencaps (courtesy of gallery.lost-media.com) I turned on House MD in the background. It was just an old season one episode I hadn't seen in years, and I just kind of listened to the TV like I usually do, until I heard this voice talking about how much she loved God and instantly, I glanced up like, what the fuck,

JULIET?!!?

And it went on from there to me digging out my old House MD season one dvds into capping lolosts of not only an episode of Juliet as a nun with stigmata BUT I even threw in NESTOR CARBONELL'S House MD episode where he's an asshole dad with a sick kid. So enjoy!

OMGZ they all speak for themselves )

[17 May 2008|01:49am]

Let's start this off with I REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT DESMOND MAY FACE DEATH IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS. No. This will not happen. No. There's no way that they will let him die. I don't care about the C4. I don't care about anything. He will live because I said so. But in that slow motion moment when Sun glanced back at the cabin with Michael, Des and Jin in it? That was the longest four seconds of my lost career, after the longest three seconds when Boone's plane started to tip. So I'm very sure that Keamy put the fucking explosives on the boat, and that he's planning some sort of bad thing. I just put two and two together, and the thing strapped on his arm from Cabin Fever is the detonator of sorts. Maybe that's his last resort, if something goes wrong? I love that three seasons later, Ben still always has a plan. I always feel like he's the most trustworthy character, especially compared to the overemotional, stupid, Jack. Sayid should mosey on over to the Kahana and fix the C4 so that it won't explode, alright? Deal. And I would love to see Ben kill Keamy. You know he's got that hate bottled up inside after what he did to Alex. John Locke is the new special chosen one, and I really want to see the Orchid station after that Orchid Orientation video. Somehow he's going to find a lot of bunnies and cows in there, believe you me. Hey we got to see Richard again! That's always like a surprise at the bottom of a cracker jack box. Maybe he'll even kick the shit out of Kate the next time she acts out of line. Since Charlotte hasn't been around to do it. Actually the more I think about it, last night's episode was like, worth only fifteen minutes because nothing happened the other forty five. Maybe next episode we will find out what drugs Claire has been taking. And then how to fucking move an island in space and time. Maybe Hiro from Heroes can help or something, since the pilot is on Heroes too, and he can read minds. Wow if he can read minds, he should have known better than to be the pilot on Flight 815.

discuss. [10 May 2008|01:54am]

Some interesting things about this week's episode.

~Richard KNEW that John was special, before he was born, enough to be there at his actual birth. Richard continued to keep in correspondence, intent to believe that John was special, and that he had something about him that he wanted to bring back to the island with him. However, the test that Richard administered on John says he failed, so perhaps things won't work out the way it was supposed to. Perhaps Richard is from the real Black Rock, when it crashed on the island - considering he doesn't age - and the ship's captain died long ago. Maybe Richard believes in reincarnation of some form, and that the leader he needs to find will be reborn. He already told us that he has a superior talent to pick out the leaders in a pack. Incidentally enough, the most important character to this show if you want to find answers is Richard. He has been a "native" or a "hostile" on the island the farthest back that we know, and he seems to harbor all the answers himself.

~John choosing the knife was wrong. John had a knack for throwing knives - they are very special to him, and his collection of knives set him apart from the others on the island in the first season.

~Richard either time travels OR he does not age.

~Ben and John both have a mother named Emily, which was confusing but very interesting. The two of them have so many likes. Bad father figures, lost mother figures, even the way that they manipulate is very similar.

~DESMOND WAS IN THIS EPISODE.

More after I watch it again.

EDIT: On second watch.

~If they move the island, the volcano could go off????

~Matthew Abbadon could work for either Ben OR Charles, and I'm not sure which, because they both conceal a lot. To say he works for Ben, says that Ben knew the plane would crash on the island (Abbadon puts the idea of going to Australia in John's mind) and that Ben sent Naomi on her mission - which I doubt, because she was leading the team against the safety of the island, the opposite of John's goals. I am starting to think that Matthew Abbadon is the Richard Alpert to Charles Widmore. The field man. He wants to find out where th others are, other than the Oceanic Six. And Charles Widmore had to have known that the plane would crash, making John go to Australia to make sure he'd end up on that plane.

~John picked up the compass and the bottle of sand. I think he was supposed to pick up the Book of Laws, since he had been considering between that, and the knife, to pass Richard's test. Each item had to be very significant. The sand could have represented the island? And the compass? John had a lot of work with compasses on the island thus far. The knife is self explanatory, John has a connection with throwing knives.
